READ MORE ABOUT OUR MATERIALS
Our team has been working with all different types of stone for many years, and we can help you understand the individual characteristics of every material that we offer.
Your next stonework or masonry project is only going to be as good as the materials that you choose, and that is why JPJ Granite only uses high-quality stone slabs. In addition to the appearance of each stone, you must also consider other variables such as durability, susceptibility to stains, and general upkeep. Here is a closer look at some of the pros and cons of our most popular materials.
Quartz
Over the last few decades, quartz has become a very popular building material, and this is a great choice for many different types of commercial and residential projects. Some of our clients choose quartz because of its durability, but you might be surprised to hear that this man-made stone is incredibly versatile as well. Quartz comes in a wide variety of colors and styles, and you should be able to find a hue that perfectly matches the rest of your home or place of business. This material is an ideal option for kitchen counters, bathroom counters, sinks, and other surfaces that regularly come into contact with germs and liquids.
Quartzite
The primary difference between quartzite and quartz is the fact that quartzite is a natural stone. All forms of quartz are man-made, and that is why it comes in so many colors. With quartzite, you are going to be slightly more limited in terms of its colors and patterns. That being said, quartzite is extremely strong, and it will stand up to very high temperatures.
Quartz is compressed with a type of silicone binder, and that filler could become damaged when it is exposed to higher temperatures for long. Quartzite, on the other hand, is very resistant to heat, stains, and germs.
Marble
Marble is an extremely popular building material because of its natural beauty, but it is important to note that this type of stone does require some maintenance. While the natural veins and unique colors are sure to brighten up your home or place of business, the stone is very porous. This type of material must be properly sealed and regularly cleaned if you want to avoid stains and other cosmetic problems. That being said, it will be tough to find any type of stone that is as eye-catching or classically beautiful as marble.
Granite
When it comes to durability, granite is one of the preeminent building materials. In addition to being resistant to heat, granite is also very difficult to scratch or chip. This natural stone is highly versatile as well, and it can be cut into a myriad of shapes and sizes. If durability is your primary concern, then you might want to go with granite for your next stonework installation. We often suggest granite for projects such as outdoor features and commercial countertops that must withstand daily wear and tear. Even though granite is porous, this is generally considered to be a low maintenance material. As long as you wipe away spills and regularly seal the surface, granite fixtures should last a lifetime.
